Hard at work
Conditioning, communication are points of emphasis in early going
Height and numbers aside, the Eudora High volleyball team is looking ready for the upcoming season.
The Cardinals aren't big, although they feature a handful of girls in the neighborhood of 5-8.
They don't have much experience.
And there aren't many of them.
But they play hard and prepare harder. Consider the first day of practice last week, which began at 6:30 a.m.
While most of their classmates were enjoying the last days of their summer break, the girls were on the Laws
Field track working on their conditioning.
It's part of the new attitude being instilled by coach Brian Krause, who along with Erin Barnett and new coach Jill Stutler, looks for improvement this season.
Jill Stutler takes over the junior varsity team. Last year, she was the head coach at Baker University.
The Cardinals start their season Tuesday when they travel to Basehor-Linwood to take on Baldin and Barstow in a quad match, which is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The Eudora freshman team will play Pleasant Ridge and McLouth on Thursday in McLouth.
The main goals of the coaches and players are improveing, getting into shape, and winning.
