Services for Robert M. Blachly Sr., 83, Olathe, were Monday, Feb. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church, Paola. Burial was in the Paola Cemetery.
Mr. Blachly died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Home in Olathe.
He was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Glen Elder, the son of Robert and Margaret McKay Blachly. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1935.
Mr. Blachly lived in Minneapolis, Kan., until 1948 before moving to Abilene. He worked as a car salesman. In 1966, he began work with the state revenue office in Topeka where he continued to work until his retirement in 1979.
He moved to Paola in 1980, and to Lenexa in 1993 before moving to Olathe.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paola and the Kiwanis Club in Abilene. He enjoyed restoring old cars.
He married Blanch H. Hochman on Sept. 17, 1944, in Abilene. She died April 15, 1993.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Blachly, Paola, Richard Blachly and Ramon Blachly, both of Olathe, and Roger Blachly, Eudora; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paola First Presbyterian Church, sent in care of Wilson and Son Funeral Home, 305 North Pearl St., Paola 66071.
