Mark Everley was named valedictorian of the Eudora High School graduating class of 1993. Matt Martin was salutatorian.

The Cardinal track teams both finished with second place showings at the annual Eudora Invitational meet. The girls squad scored 127 points behind Perry-Lecompton, which won the team championship with 221 points. The boys team finished with 130.5 points to Perry's 238.

The Nottingham PTO held an organizational meeting and set up four committeespublicity, membership and finance, activity and social, and by-laws.

Renovation plans for Eudora High School were presented at a district meeting sponsored by the Committee of Concerned Taxpayers, a group formed in March to oppose the $750,000 bond issue intended to help pay for a new high school building.

The group maintained that renovation costs, based on architectural reports the school board had undertaken for the new building proposal, would be about $400,000, or less than half the cost of new construction.

Concerned Taxpayers proposed to progressively renovate the building by spending about $100,000 per year.

Eudora Republican David Miller announced he would be a candidate for the Republican nomination for the Kansas House of Representatives for the 43rd district, which included eastern Douglas County and western Johnson County.

Resident Council members at Eudora Nursing Center were Lottie Neis, president; Lois Tefft, vice president, west; Walter Gerstenberger, vice president, east; Alma Gerstenberger, treasurer and Nora Keen, secretary. Others on the council were Bessie Schenck, dietary representative; Inez Borchers, gardening representative; Charlie forth, social representative; Florence Quinlan, religious representative; and George Schehrer, recreation representative; and Ning Jordan, advisor and activity director.

Members of the Eudora Rural High graduating class were Ruth Bartz, Orothy Brecheisen, Treva Canary, Norman Combest, Frances Cooper, Orville Crane, Delbert Eisele, Archie Goodger, Carl Grob, Lila Hearin, Arleta Holmes, Janice Guenther, Evelyn Johannaber, Dalton Laughlin, Delbert Mathia, Edward Mistele, Delbert Neis, Ruby Neis, Myrnice Ott, Esther Ott, Vernetta Spitzli, Freddie Trefz, Wayne Vitt, Marian Votaw and Arleta Wilson.

Virginia Lee Zillner, Delbert Seiwald, Rita Grosdidier, Edward Junior Hadl, Leo Bichelmeyer, Alberta Schopper and Edgar Grosdidier received their First Communion at Holy Family Church.

Mayor J.D. Adams had his tonsils removed.

The potato acreage around Eudora-Weaver and Noria was about 1,240 acres.

Klink's Orchestra of Kansas City, conducted by John Stadler, a former Eudora resident, furnished music for commencement.

John Thackston, Chanute, closed a deal with C.L. Fuller whereby he became owner of the creamery station near the Santa Fe station.
