Graveside services for Lena Barnhart, 84, Lawrence, were Tuesday, May 15, at Dean Cemetery, rural Pomona.
Mrs. Barnhart died Friday, May 11, 2001, at the Eudora Nursing Center, Eudora.
She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Coffey County, the daughter of Robert H. and Zelma (Bixby) McCracken.
Mrs. Barnhart attended several Coffey County schools.
She was a lifelong homemaker. She also helped her husband with janitorial duties and was a cook at Appanoose Schools. She worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in De Soto, H.D. Lee in Ottawa and Shirley's Cafe in Overbrook.
Mrs. Barnhart lived in rural Franklin and Douglas County until she moved to Lawrence in 1984.
She married Dewey M. Barnhart Nov. 18, 1933, in Ottawa. He died May 15, 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Dewey Leroy Barnhart and Donny D. Barnhart, both of Lawrence, and Robert M. Barnhart, Afton, Okla.; and two sisters, Thelma Wagoner, Yellville, Ark., and Vida Stolz, Esconcido, Calif.
A son, Vernon Keith Barnhart, died earlier.
The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Home, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa 66067.
