Smith-Pickett
Shannon Marie Smith and Joseph Brent Pickett, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement.
The future bride is the daughter of Kerry Smith, Bogota, Tenn., and Elizabeth Kuhlenkamp, Memphis, Tenn. She is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School, Topeka. She received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Kansas University. She is pursuing a master's degree in education at Avila University in Kansas City, Mo. She is a ballet instructor at the Performing Arts Academy in Olathe.
The future groom is the son of Eldon and Jeri Pickett, Lawrence. He is a Lawrence High School graduate. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education from KU. He is pursuing a master's degree in science education. He is a science teacher at Eudora Middle School.
The couple plan an Aug. 2 wedding at Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka.
