Pinecrest owners could expand apartments in Eudora
The developers of Pinecrest, Eudora's series of retirement apartments, are considering building more units in Eudora. Don Cooper, vice president of The Commercial Group, told the Eudora Planning Commission earlier this month the company was considering expanding its multi-family housing in Eudora.
"This is very preliminary in thought and planning," he said.
Although Pinecrest Apartments I, II and III and their clubrooms are geared toward senior citizens, Cooper said future multi-family development could be open to other Eudorans.
Cooper said Commercial Group owned undeveloped land from Pinecrest II, at 10th and Walnut Streets, and west to an access road that runs north from 10th Street up to Pinecrest III. Preliminary ideas show as many as 36 units of apartments that would loop around the property, Cooper said. The wooded area on the land now would be kept as a buffer, he said. Preliminary designs also show the apartments would be accessed from 10th Street.
Cooper said expanding investments in Eudora seemed like a logical step.
"The first three (Pinecrests) are full," he said. "We're very pleased and appreciative."
