Tradition returning to fall landscape
Eighth annual EudoraFest bringing festival staples Oct. 2 to downtown Eudora
The festival started to celebrate Eudora's German heritage and draw visitors downtown is returning for its eighth year Oct. 2. This year's festival activities are getting an earlier start at 9 a.m., and events are slated to wrap up at about 5 p.m.
One of the festival's larger draws, the quilt show, has expanded and will be open Oct. 1 as well. The show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the Eudora Community Learning Center.
As usual, Main Street will be lined with food and craft vendors, and the festivities will kick off with an opening ceremony near CPA Park.
Although this year's EudoraFest will bring back older traditions like the car show and musical performances, the festival will also include newer traditions. Organizers are planning a talent show open to adults and children in the community, an event added to the afternoon line-up several years ago.
The Miss EudoraFest pageant is returning for a second year. The contest for girls from birth to 19 years old will kick off in the morning.
The pageant, talent show and other performances Oct. 2 will take place on a stage in the 900 block of Main Street in front of CPA Park.
