New agents hired
The Douglas County office of K-State Research and Extension is revamping its 4-H Youth Development program with its first pair of full-time staffers.
Emily Morehouse, a graduate of the University of Illinois and former intern at the Illinois State 4-H Office, will head the program. Kjrsten Abel Ruch, a graduate of Truman State University and three-year Douglas County Extension office employee, will coordinate 4-H programs.
The new agents were hired to help boost the program's prominence as a youth development program for Douglas County children. A reception for Morehouse and Ruch will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the extension office, 2110 Harper St., Lawrence.
The Kaw Valley Agritourism Council and K-State Research and Extension have partnered with Keith Dabney, Douglas County Zoning Director, and Bob Johnson, Douglas County Commissioner to provide a forum to answer questions about direct marketing of farm products, condition use permits and how agritourism fits into zoning regulations.This informative meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the Douglas County Extension Office, 2110 Harper Ave., Lawrence.
