Sewage system upgrades will begin in 2008

Work to improve Eudora’s sewage system will begin in early 2008. A system analysis completed by BG Consultants in February in order to ascertain what could be done to make the wastewater treatment plant run at full capacity showed that sewage lines needed to be upsized.
Chamber looks into downtown events

In a meeting Wednesday, Eudora Chamber of Commerce members decided to look into planning events that would make Eudora more than just a place from which Kansas Highway10 drivers fill up their cars with gas. Chamber members would like to see downtown Eudora thrive, and they think creating more events for CPA Park might be the answer.
Council approves lobbyist contract

The Eudora City Council approved a contract Monday to give it a bigger voice in Topeka. The council approved a contract at the meeting to hire Kevin Barone of the Topeka-based legislative consultants Joseph & Hollander as a contract lobbyist. He has lobbied the Kansas Legislature on behalf of bail bondsmen, Sumner County and the city of Park City.

Extra trash pickups for holiday

Weldon Enterprises, the trash disposal company for the city of Eudora, will dispose of additional trash that won’t fit into the 95-gallon trash containers on regular trash pick up days Dec. 26 to 31, as long as it is bagged.

EMT-Basic initial course

Eudora Commmunity EMS and Douglas County will be sponsoring an EMT-Basic initial course on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Eudora City Hall, 4 E. 7th St. in Eudora. Classes will start on Jan. 26 and the final exam will be on Mar. 6.

7 years ago FROM THE EUDORA NEWS December 2000 Preliminary reports of Eudora’s school district buildings were in, with a grade card showing Eudora Middle School and Eudora High School desperately needing improvements. Jim French, principal of the architectural firm DLR Group of Overland Park, shared the preliminary findings, which were the opinion of the firm, with the school board. He reported it could cost up to $7 million dollars for a remodel of Eudora Middle School.
Final drawings for elementary school revealed

The motto of the design firm DLR Group is “Listen. Design. Deliver.” And that is exactly what its representatives did Thursday night at a Eudora USD 491 Board of Education meeting where they presented the final drawing of the new elementary school that will house grades first through fifth.
