Sixteen Eudora National Honor Society members and five parents and siblings joined together with Lawrence Habitat for Humanity June 23 to work on two separate houses in North Lawrence.

The members started out the morning preparing a house in its final phase to be presented to the family who would inhabit it after a dedication ceremony that afternoon. Once the house had been cleaned inside and out, most of the members worked to remove cement forms on the driveway of the houses while other members worked on touching up paintwork done by a different group the previous Saturday, as well as painting walls, closets and doors for a house that was in progress.

Another group of students worked to organize different areas of the worksite, including cleaning out a storage area, moving racks of siding and a collection of ladders away from the worksite, and moving floor tiles from a completed house to another house where they would be used.

Adviser Scott Keltner said the students intend to participate in a build with Habitat for Humanity again, hopefully before school begins in August.
