Journalism students qualify for state
Eudora High School took top honors Feb. 23 at the regional competition of the Kansas Scholastic Press Association.
The contest drew entries from 422 students from 23 high schools.
At the same event, 16 Eudora students placed in individual categories, qualifying them for the state contest in May.
Students who placed in the competition include Amelia Bock, editing, third, and layout/dps, second; Brittne Carey, advertising, first; Lauren Colman, yearbook copy writing, honorable mention; Mary Cox, news writing, honorable mention; Haley Epperson, cutline writing, first place, and theme/graphics, honorable mention; Kayla Flory, sports photography, first; Connor Hartpence, sports photography, honorable mention; Sasha Lund, advertising, honorable mention; Madison Mater, headline writing, honorable mention, and editorial writing, honorable mention; Rachel Pyle, theme/graphics, honorable mention;
Christina Pyle, feature writing, first; Abby Reynolds, cutline writing, honorable mention; Kim Scherman, theme/graphics, honorable mention; Michelle Smith, editing, honorable mention, and theme/graphics, honorable mention; Kent Swanson, newspaper sports writing, third, and yearbook sports writing, second; and Ben Wright, infographics, honorable mention.
