Shopping carts can cause harm
November 8, 2007
Between 1 and 2 p.m. on Oct. 31, an abandoned shopping cart left in the lot by some careless, thoughtless person damaged my car, parked in the C&S Market parking lot. This irresponsible act is going to cost me $1,000 plus in repairs to my fender.
It was quite windy that day and my car was parked in the lot's lower grade. The cart was apparently left uphill to the west and careened down the grade before striking my fender, leaving scratches and a good sized dent.
When taking a cart out of the store, it is the shopper's responsibility to leave the emptied cart in the "cart corral" or at least in a secure place where it will not go racing across the lot, hitting someone's car -- or worse, a small child or elderly person.
Please, think about consequences.
