Eighth-grade basketball
The Eudora girls eight-grade varsity team fell 39-34 Tuesday to Central Heights.
The Cardinals came to compete Tuesday, playing tenacious man to man defense that led to several steals and easy buckets early. The Cards went in to halftime with a one-point lead and hope.
However, it was another grueling third quarter for the Cards who were outscored 18-4.
They turned it on in the fourth quarter and outscored Central Heights 12-4, but it wasn't enough to take the lead and win the game.
Chloe Pittman led the team with 10 points; Victoria Lehmann had eight; Jennifer Bowser had seven, Ashlyn Jackson had four; Katelyn Abel had three and Sarah Prudden scored two.
Following seven-straight wins, Eudora coach Jason Gray put out a challenge for the eighth-grade junior varsity team Tuesday against Central Heights -- eclipse the 40 mark and hold the Vikings to 10 or less.
The girls rose to the occasion and walloped the Vikings 42-9, pushing their season record to 9-2. The Lady Cards will face a very tough opponent as Eudora travels to Basehor Thursday.
Chloe Pittman led the junior varsity squad with 14. Jocelyn Medrano and Cassie Roberts each had six. Madeline Dickerson, Beverly Virtue, Julianna Fries and Sarah Prudden all scored four.
