- It'd be easy to complain seeing as Eudora enters each of its two most important meets of the season nearly automatically behind two teams. The Cardinals, who ran in the Frontier League meet Thursday and compete Saturday at regionals in Ottawa, are cemented behind Class 4A's top two teams, Baldwin and De Soto, on both the boys and girls sides.

- A new 1,000-student elementary school in Eudora might not be that scary after all. Making size manageable is the driving force behind the design for a building that could house the district's first- through fifth-graders as early as the fall of 2009 should a $45 million bond referendum pass Nov. 6.
