Kelso headed to festival
Eudora Middle School sixth-grader Mason Kelso, 11, competed in piano Oct. 13 at the District One Fall Honors Auditions for the Kansas Music Teachers Association on the Baker University campus in Baldwin City.
There were more than 200 music students from eastern Kansas who were invited to audition. He was judged by area university music professors and earned a I rating.
As a result of his competition, he earned the right to play at the state festival Nov. 10 at Wichita State University, competing against youth from all over the state.
Mason is the son of Mike and Robyn Kelso and the grandson of Bob and Cherry McCabria, all of Eudora.
