United Way challenge
Local communities "Weigh In" for United Way
The United Way of Douglas County is again inviting the communities of Eudora and Baldwin City to a loose change challenge.
Collection jars are located in the school offices for anyone to donate their loose change.
Special treats will be given to students in the classroom that collects the most loose change at each Eudora school.
Residents of both communities are also encouraged to bring their spare change to the Oct. 25 high school football game between Eudora and Baldwin at Baker University. Collection jars will be at the entrance gates of the stadium for fans to donate their change on behalf of their home communities. The community's jar with the largest contribution by weight will win a traveling "Weigh-In for United Way" trophy, to be awarded during halftime ceremonies.
Eudora has won the competition for the last three years.
Proceeds from the weigh in challenge to toward the funding of 27 health and human service agencies in the Douglas County area.
This year's theme is "It Takes All of Us to Make a Difference." The campaign continues through mid-November.
