Freshman football
September 6, 2007
The Eudora Cardinals freshman football season started in dramatic fashion Aug. 30, with an 8-6 overtime win over the De Soto Wildcats.
Coach Kevin Wade said an amazing defensive effort kept the game scoreless going into overtime.
In overtime, De Soto struck first scoring on the third play from scrimmage.
After a time out the Cardinals defense regrouped and stopped the Wildcats on what would prove to be the biggest stop of the game -- holding De Soto short on the two-point conversion.
On offense, Eudora hit paydirt on the first play, a touchdown run knotting the score at 6. It was now Eudora's turn for the point-after attempt and the two-point conversion was successful.
The Cardinals continue the freshman season at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at home against Osawatomie.
