Birthday celebration
The community is invited to Eudora's 150th birthday celebration Oct. 5 in the CPA Park in downtown Eudora.
A recognition ceremony for community volunteers will take place at 6 p.m. followed by free cake and ice cream at 6:30 p.m.
Buffalo burgers, cole slaw and baked beans will be served throughout the evening for $2 each on a first-come, first-served basis.
The sesquicentennial committee has numerous activities planned throughout the evening and the Eudora Chamber of Commerce will have a beer garden from 7 to 11 p.m. at the northwest corner of CPA Park.
To continue the celebration, fireworks will begin at 8:30 p.m. and a street dance will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. with music provided by the Michael Beers Band. The evening will end with music by Come Ascendancy from 11 p.m. to midnight.
The celebration will continue at 8 a.m. Oct. 6 in conjunction with the annual EudoraFest.
The statue of Paschal Fish and his daughter, Eudora, will be dedicated at noon followed by a time capsule ceremony. Other activities will take place throughout the day with the event ending at 5 p.m.
