Community made Showtime successful
April 17, 2008
On behalf of the cast, crew and leaders of Showtime, the community variety show, we would like to thank those who attended the annual production of Showtime this past weekend.
We had our usual skits, singing and dancing, along with special guest stars from Leigh's School of Dance in Olathe, and our own local singing icons, the "von Trefz" family singers — Nell Trefz, Annette Trefz, Darla Pittman, Nancy Mannucci and Tracy Trefz. There was also laughter, food and when it was all said and done, the community involvement helped raise just a little more than $2,000, all of which goes to benefit the food pantry.
As many of you are aware, the food pantry need is greater than normal and as of a month or so ago, funds used to provide assistance with utilities and perishable items (bread, milk etc) was completely depleted. Thanks to the community’s generosity, the coffers are in much better shape.
As with any show, we have many people to thank, including the Eudora USD 491 Board of Education and school district staff; the Eudora Middle School administration, staff and custodians; The Eudora News and reporter David Oakes; Ms. Margie Coleman; Donna Oleson; Jessica Vogt; Alpha Gamma service sorority; Leland and Jane Massey, Cathy Box, Marilyn Neis, Pizza Hut in Lawrence and St. Paul United Church of Christ for allowing us practice space.
We live in a wonderful community that is truly the embodiment of caring for their neighbor. We hope to see everyone next year for Showtime, 2009.
