Wrestlers hope success carries into regionals

After finishing fourth a year ago at the Frontier League tournament, the Eudora wrestlers took a step forward over the weekend at De Soto High School in the league meet, finishing third out of the eight teams in the league.

A year ago, the wrestling team qualified five individuals for state, and all came home empty-handed. Coach Bill DeWitt, at the beginning of the season, was critical of himself, saying he had to figure out a way to get his team to peak at the right time.

Eudora is taking steps to be first in line for the distribution of additional water rights. Eudora City Administrator Cheryl Beatty told city council members Monday the city of Eudora would begin the application process of water appropriation.
EudoraFest meetings begin Feb. 21

EudoraFest Chairperson Barbara Tuttle would love to see a parade take place as part of the EudoraFest activities, but it just doesn’t seem logistically possible. However, that doesn’t mean she and the rest of the EudoraFest Committee aren’t open to figuring out a way to make it happen.

With Eudora no long participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, Julie Stewart and Karla Cleveland have volunteered to keep Eudora involved by bringing Daffodil Days to Eudora in an effort to continue the support the community has shown in raising funds for the goals of the ACS.

Pharmacist named Chamber Person of the Year

When Stan Byrne, the owner of Byrne’s Pharmacy, is asked what Eudora means to him, he defers to Alf Oleson, the man from whom he bought the store. “His philosophy was, and my philosophy still is, ‘It’s great to live in the same community as you,’ and that’s the whole thing,” he said.
