March 1997

No arrests had been made in the Feb. 25 burglary at two Eudora schools. Nearly $700 was stolen from Eudora Middle School and Eudora West Elementary School.

The money was mostly quarters taken from vending machines. None had been recovered. The thieves also took master keys. Estimated cost to re-key the school buildings was at least $600.

March 1974

The township firefighters were called to an implement fire on the farm of E.C. “Doc” Altenbernd. His caterpillar tractor caught on fire when a driver, whose name was not learned, was using the track-type tractor to push brush and trees into a fire.

Brush caught under the machine setting oil and grease on fire.
