One season after advancing all the way to the state tournament finals, Eudora’s season came to an end just as its postseason was getting started. The Cardinals lost 3-2 to Santa Fe Trail in a thrilling first round match-up in the regional tournament.

Three years ago, I thought fantasy sports were for couch potatoes who’d never played a down, inning or minute of a sport in their life. Since that time, I’ve learned there’s more to it than that. I’ve taken part in two seasons of fantasy football, and am entrenched in my first season playing fantasy baseball. It’s a blast.

Eudora did everything as a team Tuesday night against Baldwin. In game one, the Cardinals all struggled as a team, eventually dropping a 5-4 decision in eight innings. Then, in game two, every player picked up her game and the Cardinals played a solid game all-around, pounding the Bulldogs 6-1 to earn a split of the doubleheader.

When a team is told that it’s about to face the best pitchers in the conference, the intimidation alone can have an effect. That seemed to be the case Tuesday night as Eudora played a double-header at Ottawa, which boasts the top two pitchers in the Frontier League.
