Memorial services for Evelyn S. Liddel, 86, Eudora, were Wednesday, April 16, at Medicalodge of Eudora.
Mrs. Liddel died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Eudora.
She was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Swan, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Ester M. Davis Smith. She lived in Falls Church, Va., and moved to Lawrence in 2003.
Mrs. Liddel worked as an editorial assistant for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and retired in 1987. She received a bronze medal for meritorious service from the Department of Commerce in 1978. She and her husband, Dr. Urner Liddel, founded Bethesda Congregational United Church of Christ in 1958.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce N. Liddel, Lawrence, and Alan D. Liddel, Albuquerque, N.M.
