When Alf "Ole" Oleson mixed prescriptions in his Eudora pharmacy, his conventional tie would often get in the mix. He said he switched to bow ties and alleviated the problem.
Students from Eudora Middle School's eighth grade have study hall in the commons area at Eudora High School. Students were being bused to the high school for afternoon classes to cope with the heat and the middle school's lack of air conditioning before classes were cancelled.
One of the most rare and expensive animals on Lickteigs farm is the Steamer Duck, the only flightless duck in the world.
Two East African crown cranes roam around their pen at Lickteig Angus Farm in southwest Eudora. The cranes are only a few of the 85 species of birds sheltered on the farm.
LaDonna Lickteig keeps Clyde, her camel, company on a hot evening at the Lieckteig farm. Caring for the many creatures on the exotic animal farm is more than a full-time job for LaDonna and her husband, Victor.
Alesha Hillebert missed all of last season after being involved in an automobile accident, but she is back for her senior year.
Soaring temperatures have caused Eudora High football coach Aaron Barnett to alter his practice schedule somewhat this week, but, ready or not, the Cardinals travel to Paola Friday night for their season opener. They will be forced to play without their top offensive lineman Brent Whitten (above, wearing black shorts) who has a slight ligament tear in his right knee. Whitten hopes to return for next week|s game against Louisburg. In the meantime, Whitten is relegated to the role of observer.
